Wayne Lawrence who was our Operation's Officer and was very instrumental in the precommissioning days of the ship, the shake-down cruise and getting the ship from the East coast to her home port in Pearl Harbor . He also served abroad during the first few months of the ship's first deployment to Viet Nam . He passed away on May 1, 2007. He was cremated and will be buried at sea.
